TO CORE' WITH FIRE. Tt is not very often that one hears of a car being burnt, and, perhaps, on account of this, the average owner cannot be said to have much practice in putting out. say, a lire resulting from a backfire into the carburetter. In such cases, if the car is fitted with the vacuum tank type of feed, the lire can bo very easily put out by shapi.v turning off the feed to the carburettor at the vacuum tank and then opening the throttle. The high-revving engine will soon drain the carburettor of petrol and the tire will fade out owing to lack of fuel.
