Despite the very wet weather prevailing this afternoon, there was a very large and representative gathering" at the funeral of the late Mr. Andrew Freyne in the Hawera Cemetery. Oddfellows were present from every part of Taranaki, who had come to pay a last tribute of respect to one who was a pioneer settler of South Taranaki and who was held in high regard by all who knew him. 'There was a solemn Bequiem Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in the morning and the service at the graveside was conducted by Rev. F. R. Foley. In the cortege was a number of members of the Hawera Hibernian Lodge. A wealth of beautiful wreaths from relatives and friends formed an outward mark of respect and esteem The bearers were Messrs B. McCarthy, J. Bartlett, D. Kerrisk, J. Kiley, H. and L. Lavery.
