SUNDAY .-CliuOl. ANNIVERSARY
The Salvation Army Hall was crowded' at alt services yesterday, when the Sunday School anniversary was celebrated. Till© hall was prettily decorated by Mrs Si Legg. ’ / The singing of tlie children was a feature, of all .services and in the afternoon children from Ararata, where the Army conducts a Sunday School combined with the Hawera Children. There were in all 69 children present. The proceedings at the- service were in -charge of Staff Oa<pbaiii and Mrs Perry, of the Eltham Boys’ ‘ Home. Items were contributed by the following: Misses' N. Riley, F. Roberts, A. Marsh, E. Roberts (recitations), and a quartette by four Maori children. In the evening there "was special singing, with a Service of Song. Solo parts) were taken by Misses Hamblyn, Cook, Flavin, Sabdford, Davis and Clynes. Miss H. Johns also 1 feave a recitation. : The children of the Hawera school were trained by Sergeant-Major J. Dowdle, and the Ararata children by Miss Ida Prince. The accompaniments were played by Miss E'. Johns (piano) and Mr Beeson (cornet). It wa-s announced that there will be a special programme this, evening, when every child will receive a prize. The annual picnic will be held' at Te Ngntu Park on Boxing Day.
