SILENCE OF NAUTILUS
DIVE UNDER ICE SUPPOSED

LEAKY VALVE REPORTED,

No news has been received since Friday from Sir Herbert Wilkins, when he reported that-the submarine Nautilus had a leaky valve. He also reported fog and snow squalls and described the submarine’s danger from drifting ice. The “News Chronicle’’ suggests that the unusual silence indicates that the Nautilus has dived under the Polar ice cap, commencing the hazardous part of the voyage.
