Mrs Pine, aged 70, the daughter of a Maori chieftain and wife of a prominent Maori living at Moawliango. near Tailmpe, threw herself in the Moawhango River on Saturday afternoon. Two girls tried to prevent her. At the inquest to-dav a verdict of suicide while mentally unsound was returned.
