Mr and Mrs D. Overbye, who have been spending a holiday in Hawera, left to-day by train on their return home to Wellington.
Mr 11. W. Jackson, of Palmerston North and formerly of 'Tawhiti (School, is in Hawera on a short holiday visit. Mr T. R. iC'ongalton, accountant, of Auckland, has been appointed clerk of the Mt. Albert Borough 'Council from S 7 applicants, states an Auckland message.
Owing to pressure of business Mr Gordon Fraser, chairman of the north committee of the Egmont National Park Board, last night resigned his seat on tlie committee. 'The resignation was accepted with regret, the act-ing-chairman, Mr ,W. D. Armit, expressing appreciation of Mr Fraser’s services and adding that his loss would be greatly felt by the committee. Mr Armit was appointed acting-chairman.
