Marcroft to decide who will nlay Harding m the final.

Urn first round of the Kith am Golf Club .s championship was concluded during the week-end with the following results :

Senior championship.— L. Abbott beat H. Casey 1 up; N. Phillips beat ■). (hun 1 up; H. Wills beat A. Stewart 5 and 3.

•Junior championship.—R. Jefcoate limit I!. Oldfield I up; J. McKuv beat A. Martin 2 and I.

CoiiSiobition Handicap for Mr. 11. Casey’s trophy.— S. Cooper beat 0, Casey 2 and 1 ; F. Fallows beat A C’hrystal 2 and I; R. Darling beat R McGregor 6 and o; R. Free beat F Clemow 6 and 5.

Tiie course was in very good order. In the seniors J. Quin and N. Phillips had a. very close game. At the 12th hole they were all square. Phillips won the 13th and 14th and Quin Avon the 15th. The 16th and 17th were halved, which left Phillips donny 1. The last hole was halved in 5 after Phillips had stymied Quin for his putt for a four, which left Phillips the winner 1 up. Quin’s putting on the day was not as good as usual. In the juniors L-. Abbott and H. Casey had a close contest, neither being more than 2 up at any stage of the game. At the 12th . hole Abbott was 1 up. Tlu> 13th was halved in a birdie 3. Abbott won the 14th in a birdie 4. and the loth and 16th were Im Bod. Casey won the 17th in 4 after lipping the hole for 3, and stymied Abbott for his putt for 4. The last hole was halved in 5, Casey having to putt to Avin, but he was half stymied and just missed the putt, leaving Abbott the winner 1 up. Abbott had fWe birdies in the 18 holes. Carry shared the honour with a similar round. Keane and Hattersley with a fine round of 73 secured the lead in the first round in the amateur foursome championship of Australia.
