Alleged seduction of his daughter was the grounds upon which Charles Whiteley, a. waterside worker, in the Supreme Court to-day proceeded against. Sam Anderson, a saddler, claiming £250 damages. Mr Justice Reed and a. jury are hearing the claim. Whiteley .said lie first met Anderson nn October 20 last. An angry arguenb ensued. Anderson said he had been going with plaintiff’s daughter for two years and) liked her. but could not marry her. On another occasion another daughter of plaintiff said to Anderson,

“W'hv don’t you marry her?” Andersen said he never intended to marry her. “What do von mean by going about with her for two years?’’ asked White lev and Anderson replied. “She forced herself on to me.” Anderson was at least ten years older than the girl, who was 18 n/t the time. Whiteley added that his daughter assisted in the home and always gave all her wages to her mother. Her healLli was not. good now. The £250 claimed was not nearly enough for the worry and anxiety and the slur cast on the family.

In answer to counsel Whiteley said his daughter had obtained an order against Anderson for maintenance and had had him adjuged the father of her child. He admitted he know the maintenance for which Anderson was liable would total £638, but denied he had said E» Anderson that he would not. leave him a penny. The case was not. concluded when the court adjourned.
