SEVEN FALL IN STEEPLES GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. KAH IK AT OA VS WINTER CUP. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 11. The opening programme of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand Nationa 1 meeting concluded in fine weather. The attendance was equal to the average of Grand National days and the course was in splendid fast order. Dark Prince, Kako King, Ivapuna, Pangolin, Bon Aryan, Diamond Jack, and Sea Boy fell during the running of the Grand National Steeples, for which | Omeo was favourite, but was never: prominent. Silver Light and French Fleet were the early leaders. Oriflamb fell at the sod wall. Thurina moved up into second place behind 'Silver Light at the seven furlongs, but fell at the Kennels double. Silver Light led from Taramoa and French Fleet to the top brush, where the last-named fell. Taramoa led over the last fence and won by ten . lengths from Silver Light, with Radiac three lengths away.
