FIGHT BY BUCKET BRIGADE
SERIOUS FIRE IN SAWMTLT.. STOCKS OF TIMBER SAVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OHAKUNE, Aug. 11. A disastrous fire occurred this morning at Goldfinch .and Co.’s sawmill at Oliaktino .Junction. The-alarm was received at 3 a.m. A bucket brigade was formed and after a big fight managed to xave the timber stacks around tiie mill. It was impossible to save the mill, which was completely destroyed. Trucks on the railway, containing seasoned timber ready for consignment to Napier. were burned. The insurances are £2OOO, hut it is believed the loss will he very considerable. Cutting at the. mill was nearly completed, and it was expected to close down in four or live months’ time.
