INTERhSCHOOL FOOTBALL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At Riverlea. on Saturday the Kaponga combined schools’ footbalL team played Riverlea School in the Rugby competition under the South Taranaki Schools Association. The game which was hard fought ended in a draw, no score by either side. The game was mostly a forward one but Riverlea had a slight advantage in the backs. There was a. good attendance of the public and the interest being thus shown is having its effect on the standard of play of the boys. Notter was the outstanding player on the field. This player shows much promise. Saturday’s game was the fourth played by Kaponga combined. The record so far is:—r. Manaia Public, won 23 to nil; v. Riverlea, lost 5 to nil; v. Riverlea, a draw; v. Manaia Convent, lost 5 to nil. ODDFELLOWS’ BALL. The members of the local Manchester Unity Oddfellows Lodge are .working hard with preparations for their annual ball which takes place in the Kaponga Town Hall on Thursday evening next. Special treatment ri being given the floor and AVills’ Melody Makers of six instruments from Hawera. will provide the dance music.
