Commodore, of the View Zealand Division tv n- P 0- Xav > - l,ias - through the Wellington Navy League, given a mes«age to the boys and girls of Now Zealand for 1931. iho message takes the form of an attractive card, bearing, a reproduction of a splendid oil painting of ViceAdmiral. Lord. • Viscount Nelson K.B. . and Duke of Bronte, which is’in the possession of Rear-Admiral Blake. The message reads: YOUR COUNTRY IS SUFFERING. ! The great earthquake, following hard times, has been a heavy blow. It is a time when courage and cheerfulness are wanted.
It is a time to think of duty and sacrifice.
Your present hardships are small compared with what the early settlers bore and overcame.
Remember the beautiful country they have made for you.
Cherish the traditions of duty and service which they have given you. Show by your conduct that you honour and respect their memory. Amid these trials and troubles remember that the Navy is with you to guard and protect you. Should danger threaten they will he there to defend you as 1 they did in the old days. God, Country and Duty were Lord Nelson\s watchwords. 'I ry and make them yours.
