The 'Auckland Pacing Club’s Great Northern (Steeplechase meeting was continued to-day ia fine weather. The attendance was good and the track, although holding, was greatly improved compared with the first day. The totalisator handled £48,092 10s, compared with £52,088 10s on the corresponding day last year. 'Spalpiko established a good lead in the first round of the 'Great Northern -Steeples. Pearl do Leon and Star Comet fell, the former having to be destroyed. Spalpiko was still the leader at the commencement of the last round, with Master Lu, Lucess and Copev handy, blaster Lu was in front on the hill from Lucess, Spalpiko and Copoy and stayed on to win fairly comfortably. Nukumai and Dark Prince fell and Eoxhound was pulled up, having broken down. Concluding results:—
