PRAYERS FOR RAIN

APPEAL IN CANADA. WORST DROUGHT FOR 30 YEARS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (OTTAWA, June 5. Declaring that the wheat crop is faced with the greatest drought in years, Air ,T. F. Bryant, Minister for Public Works, is requesting all clergymen throughout (Saskatchewan to unite in a day of prayer for rain. The Manitoba Free Press in a survey of crop 'conditions declares that the outlook as a result of the drought is the worst in 29 years. The drought is general through the three Prairie provinces. The Premier (Mr Brownlee) of Alberta declares that unless the Government guarantees an initial payment of 50 cents a bushel to the wheat grewers there will not be enough money in circulation next autumn to keep the country going. He is arranging a conference of the three Prairie province Premiers, wheat pool officials and the Prime Minister, Air R. B. Bennett.
