ELEVEN MONTHS’ FIGURES. FALL OF £605,820 IN RECEIPTS. ■ With- only one month required, for the completion of the financial year rafliway revenue in New Zealand is £605,820 below that for the-correspond-ing 1920-30 period. Expenses for the 11 months up to February 28 last have decreased by £435,880, leaving the netrevenue £169,940 lower than that received in the previous H months. The aggregate net revenue of £543,919 up to February 28 last does not allow for interest on capital. According to the Government’s estimates the railways were expected to contribute £1,380,000 toward this year’s Budget. I With only the March receipts to add to the eleven months’ yield of £543,919 it is apparent that it will be fortunate if half the expected figure is realised. Following are details of the revenue and expenditure from April 1, 1930, to February 28, 1931, in comparison with the previous 11 months: 1930-31 1929-30 Dec.

In comparing the railway receipts account must be also taken of the fact that various economy schemes and increased fare came into operation about eight months ago.
