OUTDOOR RBLIEIF IN AUCKLAND CURTAILING ACTIVITIES. AUCKLAND, April 4. I Outdoor relief for the financial year which ended on Tuesday last, cost the Auckland Hospital Board £59,920. j Thus is an increase of £17,000 on expenditure for 1929, and exceeds' the estimate for the twelve months just ended by £22,700. “One can hardly foresee, what the future will hrine; forth,’ said Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the board. “The contention that* the hospital boards should be relieved entirely of responsibility for unemployment relief is the considered opinion of the Hospital Hoards’ Association of New Zealand, in view of 10' per cent, reduction in hospital board subsidies, further hospital, hoard activities will have to be curtailed, .otlionv.ise the levy on ratepayers will have to be increased, and this, as far as Auckland is concerned, the board is very averse tq doing."— Dominion Service.
