SOUTH ISLAND ROWERS
RACES ON DULLER ETVEE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WESTPORT, April 0. Three rowing races between Nelson and Kawatiri crews took place on the Buller River this morning, Kawatiri winning two and Nelson the third. The first event, for the Gothard Cup, was won by Craddock’s crew, which defeated a Nelson crew stroked by James by three lengths. C. E. Owen’s Kawatiri crew won the maiden race for the Harley Cup from W. Ricketts (Nelson) by a similar distance. Junior fours for the R. B. Jones Cup was won by a Nelson crew stroked by Marshall from a Kawatiri crew stroked by Strachan by three lengths. The river‘was in fine order after the floods.
