It was revealed in the Chamber of Deputies by the Mayor of Verdun that recent work thereabouts had resulted in the discovery of bodies at the rate of 11. per day. The Premier replied that it was proposed to ask Parliament for a substantial sum to enable a systematic search and reverent burial. He regretted that the question had only arisen thirteen years after the war.

Ribes, replied it was impossible ix> search 1000 acres comprising the Verdun battlefield but the Government would do its utmost to see that, the recovered dead were suitably buried as early as possible.
