SOUTH SINGLES CHAMPION SMITH DEFEATS MAST,IN KEEN, FINAL GAME In the final of the South Taranaki champion of champions bowling contest yesterday, Smith (Park) beat Mastin (Hawcra) by 23 to 18. In the eliminating play each had a victory over the other to his credit, Mas!in beating Smith by 21 to 12 in the second round and Smith beating Maslin, 22—1!8 in the fourth round. The final saw .some brilliant bowling, and on almost every head the shot bowl was at least within six inches of the jack. The games were played on the Park green, whic-h was* in wonderful order, the weather conditions being ideal. Smith opened up the final with a toucher with his first ibo-wl and followed with another with his third. Maslin massed with a drive, and before be could try another Smith had put in a block.

On the second bead Maslin got a- nice shot about a foot short of the jack and placed another near it. -Smith cut out one, but Maslin levelled the tallies with his next bowl.
