FINAL TEST DECIDED
VICTORY TO WEST INDIES AUSTRALIA ON HEAVY WICKET BRADMAN AND OLDFIELD FAIL. Ooltel Prcßß AssycimJan—By JUectrtc Telegraph ConyruriiD.) SYDNEY, March 4. The West Indies cricket team won the final test by the narrow margin of 30 runs. The visitors had all the luck of the game, but the captain showed good tactics throughout. Grant declared immediately to-day, making Australia bat on a rain damaged wicket. Both Woodfull and Ponsford were dropped twice in the opening overs. With the score at 49, however, both fell to beautiful catches by Constantine.
The figures were three for 53 wihen Bradman and Oldfield were dismissed for “ducks.” Kippax and Bigg failed to stay, and with six down for 76 Australia’s position was desperate. McCabe ana Fairfax then became associated and runs came at a good rate. This pair carried the total past the 150 mark, and Australia’s stocks were beginning to rise when McCabe lost bis wicket. The tail-enders made a gallant stand, but failed to deny the visitors a well-earned victory. Scores: WEST INDIES. First Innings 350 Second Innings. Roach, c Oldfield, b Ironmonger 34 Martin.
