PIHAMA.
FUNERAL OF MR, C. H. HOLMES Rlarely has there been seen a. larger or more representative gathering following a funeral at Pdhama than the cortege at the funeral of the late Mr Charles H. L. Holmes, son of Mr and Mrs D. Holmes, of iVtatihoi Road, which took place yesterday. Mr Holines (senior) was one of the very earliest settlers on that road, having out a track through to the hush section he took uip many years ago, and by dint of hard work had made it into a smiling faith. The famiilv were all wellknown in every part of South Taranaki and held in the 'highest regard. The gathering of people from all parts was an evidence of the respect in which the late Mr Holmes and his people were held and. a tribute of sympathy with them in their sorrow. ..
