BRITISH BY-ELECTION HELD. LIBERAL LOSES GROUND. (tJnite-'t Press Association—By Else trie Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, Feb. 21. The result of the Fareham byelection was: ' Sir Thomas Inskip (Con.) 18,749 A. J. Pearson (Lab.) 6,312 C. P. Cross (Lib.) 3,517 At the general elections the result was: Major-General Sir J. H. Davidson (C.), 19,756; C. P. Cross (Liberal), 8630: A. J. Pearson (Labour), 8034. The by-election was made necessary by the resignation of Major-General Davidson. Fareham is a division of Hampshire. Sir Thomas Inskip was AttorneyGeneral in the late Government, and his return will he welcomed by the party. He has expressed (himself .as anxious to take part in the opposition attack on the Government’s Tracies Disputes Bill.
