DENIAL OF PURCHASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. Sunday Island is still the property of the New Zealand Government. No transaction involving the purchase of the island has been agreed to or even considered. lit was stated in a cable message from Sydney that Dr. A. J. Ross, of Birislbiane', had; bought* the island outriglit, but from inquiries made in official circles. it is obvious that the statement is incorrect. Siuiday Island is the principal island • lie Kermadeoo group. The department is not leasing or disposing of any part jof the island and knows nothing of | the matter, said art official of the Lands i Department.
