“PATHETIC”!

(To the Editor.) Sir, —The letter signed by “40 Years on the Land” is absolutely pathetic. What is the good of correspondents side-stepping the real issues? It will take smarter people than Mr. Murray or correspondent to drown me in a cheese vat. There is absolutely no use comparing cheese prices of yeats ago with to-day’s. If “40 Years on the Land” - wanted an overdraft from his banker, would the banker accept as his financial position or outlook the prices got in the boom period or the prices got now ? It is the present-day facts you’ve got to face, and no amount of nasty remarks or personalities will alter things. I can assure your correspondent that no man assisted ine ‘to write any letters', nor was any man’s advice asked, so his sex ate spared any disgrace. I know my subject and I am writing on ! it from personal knowledge. In fact, as Some people are' so personal, here’s oue for them: If their factory managers are so expert, and know so milch, and have such a lot of data to work on', let’s see what improvement there is' within the next three months oh their cheese." I do not' mean the ordinary market rise of a shilling or two',' but get right up to the Canadian chesee, if not higher. Results always speak, and surely with all the recent correspondence they should improve, if they know how to! And they -all say they do, hut I’m doubtful, as commonsense would have made them improve, if they could, before now.—l am, etc.,
