BLENHEIM DISTRICT FIRES
TWO HOUSES GUTTED. EMILY MORNING OUTBREAKS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM. Fob. 20. A five-roomed dwelling, owned by Mi' J. ,j. Deboo and occupied by Air T. 11. Calc raft at Jti verb cads was totally destroyed by fire this morning. It was beyond tlie borough boundary and no fire fighting apparatus was available. The insurances were for £6OO on the house and £IOO on the furniture and effects.
Early this morning a seven-roomed dwelling owned and occupied by Air S. E. Brown was badly gutted by fire. The cause is said to have been an electric iron which was left switched on in the rear of the premises which were used as a laundry. A considerable amount, of linen belonging to three hotels and private owners was destroyed. The house was insured for £6OO and the contents for £3OO.
