SCHOOL COMMITTEE. (From Our Own Corrcspononb). A meeting of the school committee was held, on Thursdav evening, when wore present: ]\iessrs. Kilpo.triciv (chairman), Buxton (secretary), Caldwell and Davison and Mrs. Benton, and the headteacher (Mrs. Evans.) A number of accounts were passed for payment. , . . It wa« decided to hold a school picnic in abeyance on account oi the earthquake and so much trouble and depression. Letters of sympathy are to be sent to Mr. Insult and to Mr. Moore, of the Education Board staff, in their recent .sad bereavements. It was suggested that drill should be given in all schools for dismissing scholars in an orderly and expeditions manner for meeting any times of emergency . ; The school roll now numbers 110.

Musical items were contributed by Misses O’Dea, Davies. G. Hughes and i Messrs. N. Ashby and M. Burke, and each artist was encored. Before supper Mrs. Buxton, in a. neat speech, presented their guest with a solid leather suit case from her Auroa friends, and said that her bright personality would lie greatly missed. On behalf of the Hockey Club, All's. Evoritt made a presentation of a pretty scent spray, and both speakers, wished their guest a pleasant trip and a safe return. ... , . Aliss AI.
