INJURED IN ’QUAKE ZONE
PATIENTS AT HAWERA
ELDERLY MAN SUCCUMBS. A bulletin issued by the Hawera Hospital to-day. shows that up to 9 o’clock a total of 22 patients from the earthquake stricken area had been admitted.
One patient, Mr Janies Stevenson, aged 80 years, of Martinborough, who had suffered a dislocated shoulder, died yesterday. He was sent to Hawera from the Palmerston North camp and it is presumed he was injured at Napier or Hastings. The condition of Mr James Pocock, 62 years of age, of the Old People’s Home, Napier, who is suffering from abrasions, is regarded as serious. Mr Harry Abbott, 39 years of age. of 704 Kara nut Road, Hastings, who sustained septic abrasions of a leg, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. The bulletin states that the condition of the remaining 19 patients is satisfactory. Details of these are as follow: Ansell. ATrs Florence, 53 years, Napier, admitted from Hawera.
