Unemployment demonstrations took place throughout the country to-day and brought 'police interference in several cities, including Boston and Oakland but generally the gatherings were quiet, officials sympathetically receiyiii£ the demands presented by the 1 job"communist agitators appeared to have arranged the demonstrations, on a wide scale. One of the principal demands was the enactment of a. l'ederal Unemployment Insurance Daw A Communist demonstration on Boston common was broken up by the ‘police and twelve persons were arrested, including two women and two clergymen who objected to the police methods. . , Forty police charged a parade en route to the city hall at Oakland and broke it up. . , , In Washington a Communist delegation which marched on the capital was refused permission to appear on the House floor, but was admitted to the House public gallery.
