A fall of earth in th© Elliott Street liquification chamber in the New Plymouth new sewerage system caused the death of Harry Popham. aged 31, last night. Another worker, H. Wilson, received a fractured thigh when a previous fall of earth occurred on Monday night.
Popham was engaged stripping the walls in preparation for a lining oi concrete. The soil is ol a sandy nature and comes away without- the slightest warning.
