EGMONT RACING CLUB
TO-MORROW’S PROGRAMME CANDIDATES ’ PROSPECTS REVIEWED. (By “Palfrey.”) | Favoured with satisfactory accept- I anees for the second day of their summer meeting, the Egmont Racing Club may experience a more profitable day to-morrow, than was the case yesterday. It is understood that Mr A. Morse will act as starter for the club to-mori'o.w. i As Full Mark won very easily yester-' day lie should he a good favourite for the Okaiawa Hurdles. Most danger may come from the useful Royal Acre who. has been galloping well, but was' unfortunate enough to get hopelessly j left yesterday. I Class is not a strong feature of the j Electric Handicap. Chief Link is a class above the others, and even with a j substantial load should be well support-j ed. Open Cheque was unlucky yesterday and may do better to-morrow. | Summertime has shown some speed. Tne , last-named is a stable mate to Isa and I raced well at Stratford, and at timj weights may beat Chief Link and Open j Cheque. Orapai showed a lot Of pace when opposed to good class hacks at Takapuna last week and he won nicely yesterday under 9.0, so with 9.3 in the Meremere Hack to-morrow lie is likely to be a very warm favourite. Silver Rule and Chief Savage may prove most dangerous of the opposition. Quite a good class field are down to contest the Tonks’ Stakes. Bright Glow has not had the benefit of recent racing (she has only had one race in eight months), but she is working well. She must be dangerous under 8.10. Silvermine was a complete failure yesterday, but that was not his true form, and his ridc’r claims that lie pa it in 11} choked in the Egmont Cup which accounts for his collapse. If a ruunei. Vortigcrn is another likely to run well. He was slightly lame on the eve of the meeting, and did not get the work his traiifer desired. This was the possible reason that Ycrtigern did not finish better. Of the remainder, The Swell, Maui and Chopin read best, but to reduce the- number Yertigern, The Swell and Bright Glow arc named. Few of those engaged in the _ Trial Hack have any public form. Ibis ran well at Wavcrlev in the spring, but the more recent form of Goldzonc at Stratford and Nimble yesterday suggests their doing best to-morrow.: Of those engaged in the Normanby Handicap Malayan should prove very hard to beat if persuaded to do his best (he appears moody at times). Belle Star and Bonogne are a pair capable.of running a fair seven furlongs. Bayaere and Ridgeinount both went solid races yesterday, and the latter, with the advantage in weights’, may reverse positions, but it is very likely that Tenterden and Gold Dawn will prove troublesome, and Tenterden may lie the one to give Ridgcmount mosttrouble. -V number of good hacks will contest the Inaha Hack. Banbridge missed the jump out yesterday, and then ran a good race, while the form at Saltpot was impressive at both Trentliam and Egmont. Tentcall and Joyspear are others that have raced well in recent essays, but Saltpot and Banbridge are preferred.
