SOUTH TARANAKI EXECUTIVE. THE MONTHLY MEETING. There were present at the monthly meeting of the South Taranaki executive of the Farmers’ Union yesterday. " at the County chambers, Alessr-s. E. J. K, Cameron (secretary). THE BIG RALLY . The secretary referred to the big rally held last-year and said that-every-thing had been finalised in every detail. letters of thanks having been sent to all those who in any way assisted. The cost was only £32 Its- 9d. It was stated that the cost of the rally at Danuevirke was very much larger. SUTTON CUP. Advice was received from Alessrs. Neivt-no King, Ltd., that Messrs Sutton and Son had donated a new silver cup to replace that w-on outright by Mr. 11. Betts. This cup is given for the best half acre of mangolds in. the South Taranaki Fields Competition. The conditions are the same as previously, the cup to be won thrice successively or five times at intervals before becoming the property of the winner. THE PICNIC. Tin* annual picnic was briefly discussed and arranged for the Opunake beach on Saturday, February 14, a day on which the low title would he about midday and therefore an incoming tide all the afternoon. The secretary said that lie had roughly drawn up a list, of the things that farmers should endeavour to forget for that one day of the year. “I did not know farmers had so many things* to forget.’’ said a member. Committees were -set up to make detailed arrangements.
