ASSISTANCE FOR FARMERS
INACTION OF LABOUR. MB BAVIN’S BITTER, ATTACK. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Feb. 5. A bitter attack upon the Government for its failure to provide assistance and necessitous legislation for farmers was made in flic Assembly today by the leader of the Opposition, Mr T. R. Bavin. He urged the immediate repeal of the legislation resorting to a 44-hour week and other measures designed to assist the city worker as against the farmer. Mr Bavin suggested that the Eoan Council ho approached for financial assistance to tide fanners over the difficult period and further promised support for a sales tax on flour which would provide £BOO,OOO a year.
The Premier, Mr J. T. Lang, do dared Mr Bavin’s Government was re sponsible for the present state of affairs. Tlie difficulties would be re moved in the brighter days to come un dor the Labour Government.
