An order was made in the Supreme Court to-day for the estreatment of the bond of £l5O in the case of George Arthur King who absconded from bail last year after having been committed for trial on a charge of false pretences at Waimate. It is believed tlie bondsman, Robert Grant Scott, Christchurch, will apply to the court for a redaction in the amount of the surety.
Although every attempt has been made by the 'police to discover the whereabouts of the accused, it is thought that he has left the Dominion. The case was considered by the Court cr Appeal, which directed that the Su-* preme Court in Timarui should make anjk : oiddr for estreatment. Accused a ho'*'’' his bondsman were comrades in arms on the Western Front, and Scott acted under a sense of obligation to the accused. who, it is said, saved the former’s life in ail encounter with the enemy.
