SYDNEY, Feb. 4
The Producers’ Advisory Council has issued a, statement advocating a rural emergency loan to assist Australian farmers. ' The council suggests that a loan of three or four million sterling lie raised in instalments to allow urgent cases to be dealt with immediately. With the sales tax on flour, this amount would meet the firmest need. According to figures issued the average decrease in the cost of food and groceries in December last compared with December 1929 was 13.8. The cost of living in South Australia fell 17.8. being the heaviest decrease; New South Wales 11.9 was the smallest. If the plans of the Left AY mg section of the Federal Parliamentary Labour Party materialise.. Tasmania, will bo without representation ni the Miuistrv. Attempts are being made to compel Air. Scullin to fill , the two vacancies by a member for. New South Wales and one from Victoria.
