VERDICT FOR MAX BAER. c.— AW.K.-IMKH- B\ 'l*-i-eriipl. Oopyryrht. > NEW YORK, Jan. 16. Max Baer, California, is credited Avith a knock-out over Tom Heeney, New Zealand, in the third round. Heeney casually listening to Dempsey’s count after being pushed through the ropes, Avas declared knocked out. All the sporting Avriters Avho encouragningly pushed Tom back agreed that he Avas far from taking the count. In fact.he was as hard as a rock, and led easily in the first two rounds. Heeney was preparing, to resume when the timekeeper, Donovan, and Dempsey told him the fight was over. “I am not hurt,” said Heeney, and lie looked disappointed. It is generally agreed that he could have got back in plenty of time but ivas listening comfortably to Dempsey’s- count-.
