(By Teletrrapb—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 9.
Appreciation of the action of the postal authorities in making available to the public of New Zealand the air mail services in other portions of the Empire and the United States is shown by the returns from the Post Office. Since July 1, when the scheme came into operation, approximately 7000 letters have been posted in New Zealand for conveyance by the air mail services from Karachi to London and in Australia, Canada and the United States. By far the greatest number were for transmission by the KarachiT.ondon service. There are over 8000 miles of air routes in operation in Australia.
