REFUSAL TO PAY BILL
Remarkable adventures in a night club of the gay Montmartre quarter of Paris were encountered by a Londoner, who was lately set at liberty after being detained on a complaint by the night club management. T lie episode centred round Captain Crifston. According to the story told to the police by the night club management in seeking the captain’s arrest lie entered the club when the gaiety was at its height, and asked everyone present to eat with him. .When a bill of Cl 155 was presented to" him later, the captain is alleged to have refused to pay it. and Lho police were then called.
On the other band, the captain complains -uf having been treated as a look lie declares that lie limy have asked one or two persons to have a drink with him. but he. thought the i,ill was a ridiculous imposition and refused to be “the mug.
After police investigation, Captain Crifston, who is the son -of a Russian countess, but was born in England, was released,, and the night club management announced that the captain’s liill has been reduced to £l6.
