AFFIRMS FORMER VIEWPOINT.
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) ROME, Jan. S. The Pope’s encyclical on marriage, which he describes as a Christmas gift to the world, runs into 10,000 words. It. reaffirms the Roman Catholic viewpoint, refuses to countenance birth control and holds marriage dissoluble only by death. In reference to mixed marriages, in connection with which there arc recently a controversy at Liverpool, the Pope repeats that the church discourages them.
