The Railway Commissioners in New South Wales announce the reintroduction by the Government of the 44-hour week on the railways, which ■•• ill involve an added expenditure of £4i o.OuO per year. A large number working under the Federal awards, which prescribe 48 hours for the working week, thus receive pay for lour hours in which tliey do not work. it is anticipated the deficit on the railways by June 30 will be £4,000,000,
