CHAMPIONSHIP ARRANGEMENTS

There was an air of keen enthusiasm at a special meeting of the ElthamTakou Dog Trial Club oil Tuesday, at Mangamingi, when the president, Mr. H. V. Gower, was in the chair and there were present the secretary, Mr. P. R. Brown; the assistant-secretary, Mr. E. Forrester, and Messrs W. H. femou.il, G. H. Brown, T. Reilly, A. Doole. D. Nairn, J. L. Nairn, J. Gear, and; W. Ford!.

The annual trials will take place on .March 11, 12, 13 and the meeting will include the Taranaki championships, for which, in addition to a line array of trophies, £BO in prize money is paid. The president reported that* the gold medals donated bv the North, Ls.anu Sheep Dog Trials Association fir the winning dog in each championship event would be shortly to hand. Tho club was in a sound position both; as regards membership and finances, there being n credit balance at the bank of £39, in addition to which there was £l3O at fixed deposit. At last year’s, trials there was an entry of well over 100, and. in view of the allocation of the championships, it was anticipated that very strong support would again he received. Mr, Chas. S. Hay, of Benmore, Master ton, wrote acceping the club’s invitation to judge the trials.

Mr. P. It. Brown intimated that lie would again be pleased to allow the c’>!ub to bold tile trials on his property. Mr. Broun, was heartily thanked for his generosity. The club is to be congratulated on this, tfor it is recognised that the grounds are among the best in the Dominion.

It was decided to approach Mr. Hardwick Smith for the loan of sheep for the trials.

Tt was decided to hold the annual concert and dance on. the evening of the second day and' a committee was sei. up to make arrangements. In addition to those already appointed, officials were selected as under: Mounted sheep steward, Mr, W. ' Sproull ; ground steward, Mr. A. Doole; dog steward:, Mr. T.
