INTERESTING PROGRAMME An excellent series of numbers of various style's, all 'but one .contributed bv pupills was presented at the annual breaik-u!p concert of the Ha we r a 'Convent School in :St. Joseph’s' Halil last evening The hall was crowded' and keen enthusiasm was shown, th© work of the young people being cordially appreciated! and heartily applauded. 'The programme opened with a vocal quartette by Misses Petersen, Robertson, Davey and Goodwin, and then followed a ‘‘Welcome” song by the juniors. The infants delighted everyone with their numbers—a nursery romp dance and song “Three Bears,” while the juniors contributed songs ‘ ‘‘Number 22”' and “Rowing,” and the seniors the lovely part song “Ave Maria ” and a dance ‘ ‘ The [Rainbow. ’ r In the vocal numbers the voices blended nicely, the alto being a feature. Piano solos were given in good style by Master T. Drake, “Novelette” and Miss P. Brown, “Valsc Caprice” and piano trios were played by Misses'Cann, Daley, Galvin, Rodgers, Seaver and Doyle, and by Misses Jordan, Brown, Brady, Warder, Robb and) Sheehan. There were also a triple Highland Fling by Misses 'Gann, Brown, Turnbull and two part songs “Return of Spring” and “Evening Twilight” by Misses Beechey (2), LcUve, Ifoward White and Pi vac (:2). ■The intermediate pupils contributed a pretty dance, “Royal Arch,” and a “•Christmas Play.” The latter reflected nicely the spirit of the festive time, introducing in turn, the waits, singing well-known carols, the spirit of 'Christmas and Old Father ‘Christmas, Yudc, paper caps and bonbons, holly and mistletoe, the three Kings of Orient, and 'Good King Wenceslas, lancll concluding happily with the Christmas Tree and A nidi Dang Syne. 'The- motto of the party was “to help the right and to Ifinishi the Wrong. ’' 'Accompaniments were played by Mrs W. A. Quin and Piper Hannah.

The concert ended happily on a pretty operetta, “The Magic Ruby” in rt'kioh the personal taking part were: Nelly O’Neal, the; adopted daughter of the General, (Mary Ash ; Elsie, M. Bosson; Violet .find her friends', R. ('arm, N. Thurston. (Rose), M. Cruiekshank (Dorothy) ; Major-General Bangs V JO., V. T’ivac; Patrick O 'Flaherty 'Terence McGee. hi-« servant, C. McCaliiran; Harry iLisle, Clerk in the Government Offices, J. Walsh; The Rujah of Rajahpore, G. Kavanagh; All 'Sin, his 'Chinese servant, B. O’Connor; Eleetra, the Goddess of .Light, N. Turnbull; Raj the Rakshasha, iD. Quin; Imps' of Darkness, J. Flynn, T. Daley, L. Danders, B. MacMern; Spirits of Dighfc, J. 'Goodwin, J. Myers, J. Murray, M. Quayle. The ‘Sisters are to be heartily commended on the excellence of the programme which reflected the good work done during the year at the school.
