HAWERA SWIMMING CLUB

COLOUR, CHANGE APPROVED. NEW BADGE ADOPTED. ■At a special genei-al meeting of the Ha we r a Amateur Swimming Club last evening it was decided to change the club colours from dark and light blue to black with a gold badge. Mr A. W. Lawijf the club president, explained that the principal reason for the change was the desire for uniformity in the club costume. Difficulty had been experienced in the past in obtaining costumes of the two blues, but with the proposed change that difficulty would disappear. In the absence of Mr AV. A. Spragg, who had previously given notice to move that the change be made, Mr Lawn sponsored the motion. It was seconded by Mr S. Anderson and carried without discussion.

The choice of a club badge led to eonsderable discussion, two designs being submitted to the meeting and both holding attraction as an emblem. One design showed the word “Hawera” and the letters .“A.5.C.,” together with the figure of a diver within a circle, sideways from, which .rose the outline of a single wing. The other design showed the letters “H.A.S.C.” entwined in a monogram flanked by fern leaves and surmounted by an outline of Mt. Egmont. Both designs were executed hv members of the club. The respective costs eventually proved the decisive factor and the wing design was adopted. SUCCESSES RECALLED. CHAMPIONSHIP CERTIFICATES.
