FIGHTING IN GUATEMALA
another country in revolt f f SHARP CLASHES IN CAPITAL. ARMY APPARENTLY DIVIDED. . (United PreM Asaociauon —By Ei«c*ru- •!«■•«* •/•►/a Copyright.) Received 10 a.m. to-day. WASHINGTON, Dec. 17. The American Charge d'Affaires (Mr McCafferty) at Guatemala reported to the State Dejiartment that a revolution has broken out with sharp lighting, principally in Guatemala City. Private and commercial despatches likewise confirmed the outbreak. The reports have not made clear the political alignments of the revolt, but it is stated that the army is participating and apparently is divided. Last week President Chacon suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and declared that he was not lit. to continue his duties. Presumably the revolution is inspired by the opponents of ProvisionabPresident* Palma.
