PLAYERS TAKE ACTION
SELECTION OF TEAMS. SHEFFIELD SHIELD CRICKET. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. MELBOURNE, Dec. 18. A meeting of players of the Queensland Sheffield Shield cricket team decided to defy the Queensland Association and Appointed their own selectors. The trouble dates back to last season when the Queensland selectors in Brisbane insisted on choosing a team for each game by telegraph, this being a complete departure from the practice of other State teams. Leo O’Connor, who was then captain became involved and dropped out of the game. Players are 'of the ■opinion that it is impossible for the Queensland selectors to keep in touch with players’ doings and accordingly have appointed three members of the team as selectors.
