MOUNTAIN FOR SALE
WHERE MOSES VIEWED THE PROMISED LAND. Mount Nebo, whence Moses was allowed his one view of the Promised Land 1 , and where, according to the Scripture, he died, is for saTe. The trails-Jordan sheiks who own it have offered the summit, including Pisgah—the peak on which the leader of the Israelites stood when he was shown the “land flowing with milk and honey” —to the Franciscan fathers- for £ISOO. The offer has. been declined, somewhat to the surprise of the slieiks, who understood that the Franciscans were anxious to carry out excavations on the summit and eventually to crown it with a- basilica.
