CONTESTS AT MANAIA LONG LIST OF EVENTS FIRST ANNUAL ASSEMBLY Approximately 100 contests, exclusive of heats which in some events: numbered as many as four, provided a lengthy programme at the Manaia District High 'School sports on 'Saturday. Ideal weather prevailed and on the picturesque Manaia; Domain the occasion proved replete with enjoyment, to a gathering of ,sonic 300 school children and a considerable number o-f parents. In the organisation of the programme the competitors were divided 1 into four groups according to ages, with an additional championship group and excellent control was maintained by the various officials, who combined with the secretary. Mr W. A. McKenzie. Championship cups fo'r boys and girls of the primary division of the school were donated from the Herbert Smith Trust Fund. In the boys’ division Wilfred Wann secured a substantial points .margin from the runner-up, 'Gordon Innes, but competition" for the girls cup was exceedingly close, the winner, Pauline Putt, having, with 15 points, only a point, to spare from Duleie Gunderson. "Members of the general committee were iMisseS Hilles, MjeEwen, McLeod, Edward's, Hansen, Howell, Vincent, Wood, Dudley, Mrs Meuli, and Messrs Nairn, Millar, Jones, Clague, Butler, Gamlin, Walker. Reid and 'Sole while the sports executive consisted of Messrs McKenzie, G. Edwards, Vincent, D. G. Sherso'n and T. Bridge (treasurer). Service at a refreshment was provided by Mesdames Lawson, Edwards. Amirelws, Davies and Young.
