YOUNG WOMEN’S STUDY GROUP

FINAL MEETING FOE YEAR

ADDRESS EY MISS CORRIGAN

Last oveilinig the final study for the Yeung Women’s Interdenominational 'Study Group was held. The wide and interesting subject. of “Thought” was lead by Miss Corrigan and. the group comprised young women! from almost all denominations in the town.

The leader .stressed the point for the need 1 of directing our thoughts. ‘‘lnstead of having a purpose in. our thoughts, to° often we allow the mind to have free play, with the result that nil at should be the palace room! of the mind was too often a lumber room of' fancy, ’ ’ said Miss Corrigan. She urged the group to ‘'‘think.” The people of to-day owed' much to the thoughts of those who had 1 gone ’before and if they would adldl their quota to life they must think on practical lines. Practical lines were not necessarily the lines that had been, dwelt on for centuries by our predecessors. Originality and courage meant much to the practical thinking of to-day.

At t lie close of the study final arrangements wore made for a combined tea to. bo held in the Presbyterian Hall on Sunday, December 7, at 5 p.m. It was decided to invite all young men and women of all churches anil those especially interested in youth work. The tea will ta!ke the. form l of a gift tea and •everyone is asked to bring .something .suitable for Porirua Mental Hospital. Suggestions were given by those who had formerly helped pack, hampers for the institution. Sewing materials and embroidery silks, writing and drawing materials, crayons, pi'cluro booles!( not necessarily new), toys, cakes, sweets, etc., were among the suggestions. Before the group dispersed it was decided to send ai representative to the “’Conference of Youth” to be held at Walkanne early in the year.
