SPECIAL TRAINING FOR BOYS

A special 12 .month's’ practical course of training in agriculture is being made available at the New Zealand Experiment Farm in- New Rout.h Wales. In referring to this the Minister for Agriculture (t.lr nTuorby) said; that the offer should be of particular interest to parents whose sons were sitting for the Intermediate and Leaving Certificate examinations. Accofnroda'tion was provided' for 40 students, and the training wa s of the most practical character, while in. addition a comprehensive course of lectures would be given'. The work carried on at the farm was very diverse in character, and the dropping range was unusually wide. Oats, wheat, maize, potatoes, .and many fodders were grown, while l an orchard of 2‘3 acres included! several varieties of fruit. Studs of Clydesdale horses, Ayrshire cattle, and Berkshire pigs were | maintained, as well as a fairly large flock of sheep, and, in addition, the | farm was equipped! with a modern I dairy farming plant.
