COLLISION EN MID-AIR

On a return journey from Leudhars (County Fife) aerodrome, the leader of four biplanes, three of which were, flying in arrowhead 'formation, collided with another while turning at an altitude of 1000 feet. ■Both fell headlong 300 yard's apart within sight of the proprietor of an estate.
One immediately burst into flames, incinerating Flight-Lieutenant H. W. Howlett. The other pilot, Flight-Lieu-tenant G. Brookes, was killed outright. The machines were destroyed. This is the 53rdl crash and 63rd fatality in the Boval Air Force during 1930.
