DOMINION BUTTER

FLAVOUR DEFENDED. RIGHT OF FAIR! MARKETING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). Received 12.30 n.m. to-day. LONDON, Oct. 29. Mr Sandercoek, director of Trengrouse and Nathan, one of the largest provision merchants, giving evidence at the butter enquiry yesterday, denied that the flavour of New Zealand “straight’.’ butter was inferior toblended. He added that the New Zealander was a sportsman who wanted to back his own horse and l felt that he had an elementary right of putting his goods on the market for a test on merit and quality, which was denied him. New Zealand butter was never sold to public as such; it was soldsimply as pure butter, for which the retailer got a higher price. Without a marking order there would be no incentive to sell New Zealand as- New Zealand butter.
